| The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby | ||
![]() |
General overall best book for Digital Photographers. This book chalked full of tips, with exact and well defined descriptions on exactly how to do them. One of my favorite things about this book is that Scott actually lays out for you step-by-step instructions which are incredibly easy to follow. A great example of this was I needed to remove a hot spot from someone's face in a photo. On page 204 I found "Removing Hot Spots", and it listed 5 easy steps which took me a whole 30 seconds to read and whiz-bang-boom, (almost like magic), the hot spot was gone! This has become my "go to" book, when I can't figure out the answer myself. I would recommend this book to any photographer, and really anyone! It's great for beginners and intermediate people, and even experts will get a tidbit or two from it! Related Links: Buy this book |

| Photoshop Restoration & Retouching, Second Edition by Katrin Eismann & Doug Nelson | ||

If you find yourself fixing and restoring photos that you own, or some that your clients bring in, then this book is for you. Even if you occasionally run across that family photo of your grandparents that needs work, this book will show you how to fix it all! Katrin shows you all her secrets for fixing all sorts of problem photos. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because it's not for the faint of heart. If you really want to restore or repair a photo, then be prepared to dive into areas of Photoshop you may not have seen before, but not to worry, Katrin does do an excellent job of walking you through all the processes of restoration and retouching a photo. This is the Second Edition of an already outstanding book. Related Links: Buy this book |

This pretty good book for diving into the artistic aspects of Photoshop. It's broken up into 3 sections, Artistic Techniques, Web Techniques, and Image Manipulation Techniques. This book is really designed for the beginner that wishes to start creating some nice effects (especially a painting style of effect) inside of Photoshop. Related Links: Buy this book |

Correcting
moiré in scans Is moiré a problem in your scans? (Visible line patterns that really should not be there) Check your scanners dialog and look for an option called Descreening or Moiré Removal. In some scan dialogs, you'll need to choose the option Color (Document) rather than the Color (Photo). |
