The
Tearoom began in 1978 as a celebration of 30 years in business for
Pinecroft. Its namesake is a large frog carved from stone some 125
years ago, now green with moss and age. The green frog resides
peacefully beside the tumbleway. In earlier times, in St. Thomas,
it was used as a stand for mounting horses and entering carriages.
It is now the caretaker of our pond. The
tearoom began by serving tea, muffins and homemade bread. Now
homecooked country lunches are specialties of the tearoom. Fresh
baked bread and rolls, soups, salads, sandwiches and luncheon
features with croissants, crepes and patty shells fill the menu.
Seasonal desserts include rhubard crisp and strawberry shortcake.
Throughout
the year various evening meals are presented at Thanksgiving and
Christmas, or by special appointment.
